The Impromptu Cooking Date

It was a Tuesday night and the trusty old “what’s for dinner” question came up. The idea of eating another meal at the BX was unbearable, so we decided to be adventurous and looked up new recipes. We went grocery shopping for the week and voila: the impromptu cooking date!

We got a few filet mignon steaks, stuck with the author’s suggestion for a red zinfandel, and Clint whipped up a tasty filet mignon with red wine sauce for dinner. I helped with some sautéed mushrooms and spinach. Since Clint has recently adopted a taste for white rice with his meals, we heated up an instant rice bowl from Lotte Mart.

The recipe was easy enough, and it was fun watching Clint cook for a change. Turns out, he’s pretty good at it.

The recipe was from one of my favorite food sites, Simply Recipes.
